
During the Easter Holidays, the excitement of having time away from the classroom and enjoying a few more tasty treats than usual can lead to over-tiredness and hyperactivity. Planning a few day trips over the holidays, balanced with some down-time at home will ensure your charges have a wonderful time and their minds are kept active - without burning out. Careful planning of your activities is key ensure children of all ages are happy: it can be a juggling act entertaining younger ones and school-aged children so we’ve put together a list of London day trips which will appeal to most little Easter Bunnies.
Have a roar-some time at the Jurassic Kingdom in Osterly Park 1st- 17th April:
A must for natural history enthusiasts – be transported back to a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth at the Jurassic Kingdom in the National Trust favourite, Osterly Park. Help excavate a giant dinosaur skeleton, watch out for the flying Pterosaurs get ready for the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex hiding in the wilderness. Be sure to have your photo taken with the huge 16-foot tall Diplodocus before you visit the animatronic exhibition, with over 30 life-size models on display.
Say hello to the Moomins at Kew Gardens 1st -17th April:
Your charges won’t be old enough to remember the iconic 1940’s story characters The Moomins, but experiencing the wonderful world of the adventurous and nature-loving creatures with exciting family-friendly activities is a must this Easter. Green-fingered tots can enjoy the botanical landscape of Kew Gardens, and follow the magical Moomin Festival Camp trail, taking you deep into the wild woodland of the Natural Area. Learn all about spring flowers and plants in The Hemulen’s Herbarium. Remember to pick up your Easter activity newspaper at the gates to help the Hemulen find his missing plants.
Visit the Ocean Invaders at the Sea Life London Aquarium 1st April - ongoing:
A new permanent addition to the Sea Life London Aquarium is a sensory experience, teaching you the fun and unusual facts about the beautiful, dangerous and alien-like species of jellyfish. Discover the danger of the jellyfish sting and create a digital swarm in an interactive display. More daring children can walk into a space surrounded by brightly coloured jelly fish. These new rubbery friends have joined an already exciting list of sea animals at the aquarium including sharks, penguins and much more.
Join the Eggcellent Battersea Zoo Easter Egg Hunt 1st – 17th April:
A lovely activity to enjoy this Easter with little ones is to spot the colourful eggs in the animal enclosures at Battersea Zoo. Fill out a quiz sheet to claim your prize. Learn fun facts about animal eggs and take part in a whole host of eggy-crafts. There’s also plenty of fun for children in the adventure playground where kids can test their skills as they climb, balance, swing and build. Let their little imaginations run wild playing a farmer with a life-sized tractor. Remember, the meerkat feeding time is 11.15am – not to be missed!
