As a nanny you might be tasked with sorting out thank you presents for teachers as the end of term draws near. If you want to avoid the usual box of chocolates or bottle of wine, here are some unique and thoughtful ideas.
Potted Plant: A lavender plant or a little rose in a pretty pot is a thoughtful and lasting thank you gift for a great teacher at the end of term. Accompanied with a card that recognises the teacher for nurturing them and helping them ‘grow’ is a sweet additional touch. Potted succulents and cacti are extremely popular at the moment and make great presents, too. Time for a trip to the garden centre!
Pamper Set: A gift bag of thoughtful treats will be so appreciated, and it’s something that your charges can get involved in too. Think nail polish, hand creams, a stack of artisan soaps, a beautiful eye mask, luxurious bath oils – that sort of thing. Go for small, independent brands or favourites like Crabtree and Evelyn, L’Occitane and Molton Brown.
Vouchers: Shopping or spa… shopping or spa? If in doubt, club together with the rest of the class and get them vouchers for both. Other great ideas are theatre vouchers and tickets for afternoon tea, allowing the teacher to book at their leisure. Male teachers might appreciate an Amazon voucher.
Food Hamper: Good coffee, tea in pretty boxes, tins of luxury biscuits – that sort of thing. Either head to Fortnum and Mason to buy one ready-made in a beautiful wicker basket, or make up your own hamper of lovely treats for a fraction of the price. Again, your charges can have lots of fun helping you curate and package this thank you gift.
Diffusers and Scented Candles: Teachers may receive dozens of scented candles every year, but we’re of the opinion that a home can never have too many of these… especially if they’re from the likes of Jo Malone or Diptyque. Diffusers from The White Company are also lasting, luxurious presents - and so very spoily!
Homemade Gifts: From jams, cakes and biscuits to handmade cards, there is something priceless about home-made presents. Have fun hand and finger painting thank you cards, and start up a production line if there are lots of teachers and assistants to thank at the end of term.
Personalised Stationery: Why not surprise them with a personalised notebook, pen, card holder or deck of correspondence cards? Choose from Aspinall and Symthson for something very special, or check out Not On The High Street for a broader range of price options and products.
