A delightful, long-standing client of ours is seeking a warm, outgoing, down-to-earth Live-in Nanny to join their family this autumn, when their current nanny moves on after two very happy years. The family is very well-known to us and are considered excellent employers. They are relocating from their London home to their country home in Hertfordshire this summer and are looking forward to welcoming a fun, organised and easy going, dedicated nanny into their new home this autumn.
The role will involve sole-charge care of two school-aged children: G10 & B8 years. The children attend school locally, so the day is naturally broken up; once the morning routine, school run, and nursery duties are complete, the nanny will have time off during the day before resuming duties for the afternoon school pick-up and after-school activities. The boy loves sport his big sister enjoys arts and crafts and more creative activities. This is a busy and engaging household, and the family is looking for a nanny with a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience, particularly with school-aged children. The successful candidate will be confident in supporting homework, encouraging learning, and helping to manage the children’s social lives and extracurricular activities. In addition to this, the nanny will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious meals for the children and carrying out all associated nursery duties, incl. keeping their bedrooms, clothing, and belongings organised. The ideal candidate will be calm, organised, and proactive, with a flexible and positive approach. A strong team spirit is important, as the nanny will work alongside other household staff, including a full-time couple who manage the property, grounds, and maintenance. The ability to “go with the flow” and adapt to a dynamic family environment will be key to success in this role. The family home is set on a beautiful estate, offering a wonderful outdoor lifestyle. The children particularly enjoy spending time outside, including paddleboarding on the lake during the summer months, so a confident swimmer is essential. A love of the outdoors and an active, fun approach to childcare will be highly valued. The family also have two Bengal cats, as well as chickens and alpacas on the estate, so the nanny must be comfortable around animals and be as happy in wellies as in loafers! A confident driver is essential for this role (automatic car provided for use on duty). There will also be opportunities for occasional international travel with the family, mainly within Europe, with some longer-haul trips. Flexibility and willingness to travel are therefore highly desirable. The successful candidate will be offered beautiful, private accommodation on the estate, comprising a self-contained apartment with vaulted ceilings, incl. kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room. The property is conveniently located approximately a 13-minute drive from the nearest station, with a direct 25-minute train journey into London Euston. A competitive salary is available for a nanny with the right level of experience.
