Description

HERNE HILL/NORTH DULWICH: Live-in Nanny (B3 years + new baby due Oct) – August start  ££££

  • Role: Live-in Nanny
  • Children: B3 years + new baby due Oct
  • Start Date: August
  • Location: Herne Hill, South East London
  • Salary: negotiable
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am–6:30pm
  • Accommodation: Spacious double bedroom with king-size bed and private bathroom

The Family:

A warm, welcoming and professional family based in the vibrant and leafy community of Herne Hill are seeking an exceptional Live in Nanny to join them from August.

The family have two children: a bright and sociable three-year-old boy and a new-born baby girl due in October 2026. They place great importance on creating a loving, secure and nurturing home environment where their children can thrive. Their parenting approach is relaxed yet consistent, combining clear boundaries with warmth, flexibility and a predictable routine that allows children to feel safe, confident and happy.

Music plays a central role in family life, and as a very musical household, they would be delighted to find a nanny who shares an appreciation for music and creativity.

The family have a strong connection with Norland and deeply value the professionalism, expertise and standards associated with Norland training. They view their nanny as an important and respected member of the family team and are committed to fostering a supportive, friendly and collaborative working environment with open communication and clear expectations.

Adding to this unique opportunity, the children's grandmother is an experienced Norland Nanny who provides an additional source of knowledge, support and guidance. The family's current Norland Nanny, who has thoroughly enjoyed her time with them, would also be delighted to speak with prospective candidates to offer insight into the role and family life.

About the Children:

The eldest child attends nursery three days per week during term time and enjoys an active social life, including regular playdates and activities with local Norland children and nannies. He is a cheerful, curious and engaging little boy who enjoys exploring the local area and participating in age-appropriate activities.

His younger sister, due in October 2026, will remain at home during her early years and will not attend nursery until after her second birthday.

The Role:

This position offers a mixture of sole-charge and shared-care responsibilities, working closely with the parents to provide exceptional care and support for both children.

The family are looking for a nanny who is conscientious, dependable and highly organised, but above all warm, affectionate and genuinely invested in the children's wellbeing and development. The ideal candidate will be proactive in creating a stimulating and happy environment, supporting the children through each developmental stage with confidence and enthusiasm.

Alongside providing outstanding childcare, the successful candidate will take responsibility for all nursery duties and child-related household tasks, ensuring the children's environments remain organised, calm and welcoming.

A passion for healthy cooking would be particularly appreciated, as the family place great value on providing nutritious, home-cooked meals and encouraging positive eating habits from an early age.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing attentive, nurturing care for both children
  • Supporting all aspects of the children's physical, emotional and developmental needs
  • Planning engaging, age-appropriate activities, outings and educational opportunities
  • Maintaining established routines and encouraging positive behaviour through consistent boundaries
  • Preparing nutritious and varied home-cooked meals for the children
  • Managing children's laundry and wardrobe organisation
  • Keeping children's bedrooms, play areas, books and toys clean, tidy and organised
  • Supporting nursery drop-offs, collections and social activities
  • Arranging playdates and outings to support social development
  • Working collaboratively with parents to ensure consistency of care

Travel:

The children's mother is a professional classical singer, and while much of the year follows a predictable routine, occasional flexibility will be appreciated during rehearsal and performance periods. The role will include accompanying the family on holidays within the UK, Europe and occasionally further afield. There may also be opportunities to travel in support of the mother's professional commitments both within the UK and internationally. Travel requirements are not expected to be extensive but flexibility is important.

The Home & Location:

The family home is situated in the highly desirable area of Herne Hill, offering access to beautiful parks, cafés, independent shops and family-friendly amenities. Transport links are excellent, with Herne Hill Station just an eight-minute walk away, providing direct services to Victoria and City Thameslink. North Dulwich Station is also within easy walking distance with services to London Bridge, while Brixton Underground Station can be reached by a short bus journey.

The family also employ a cleaner two days per week who assists with household cleaning, laundry and general domestic support.

There are two friendly and well-trained Cockapoo dogs in residence.

Benefits:

  • Spacious private accommodation
  • 28 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • £170 annual Continuing Professional Development budget
  • Supportive and respectful working environment
  • Opportunity to work alongside a family who highly value professional childcare
  • Extensive local network of Norland families and nannies
  • Opportunities for travel within the UK and internationally

This is a wonderful opportunity for a professional nanny seeking a long-term position with a kind, appreciative and engaged family who place children's happiness, development and wellbeing at the heart of family life.
