BERMUDA: Paediatric Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist for Special Needs Child (toddler)

  • Role: Paediatric Physiotherapist/OT (formally qualified with certification ~ eg: British NHS Band 6)
  • Location: Bermuda (accommodation supplied)
  • Position Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday 40 hours per week, with occasional weekend assistance and travel)
  • Start: ASAP in line with visa application process – (**NB**: applicants must have compatible passport for Bermudian Visa - eg: UK/EU)
  • Salary: DoE (circa £60K + p/a) & enjoying the tax benefits of Bermuda + 1 x flight back to the UK/home destination per year
  • Driver required.

About the Role:

A warm and dedicated family in Bermuda is seeking a trained & qualified Paediatric Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist caring for their toddler son, who has a visual impairment and cerebral palsy. Born very prematurely, he requires specialised, consistent therapy to support his development and well-being. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young child's life while working closely with loving parents and engaging in international therapy programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Therapeutic Care & Program ImplementationDeliver daily physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions aligned with programmes from Europe and North America. Follow prescribed therapy plans and attend therapy sessions and centres alongside the family to ensure consistency and optimal outcomes.
  • Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with the parents, who are actively involved in their child's care, providing updates, adjustments, and guidance on therapy progress.
  • Childcare & Nanny DutiesAssist with daily care routines including preparing nutritious meals suitable for a toddler starting solids, maintaining cleanliness of all child-related areas, and potentially administering medication as prescribed.
  • Developmental SupportEngage the child through motivating, age-appropriate activities that foster his development and tolerance for therapy.
  • Family Travel & FlexibilityTravel with the family as needed, including occasional weekend days or babysitting, to ensure continuity of care and support.
  • Additional ResponsibilitiesMaintain a safe, hygienic environment and assist with basic nanny duties to support the child's overall well-being.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • • Formally trained & qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist (with proven certification ~ eg; Band 6 British NHS experience).
  • • Proven experience working with children with cerebral palsy, visual impairments, or similar disabilities.
  • • Experience in implementing international therapy programmes is highly desirable.
  • • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic with a genuine passion for paediatric care.
  • • Ability to motivate and engage a young child effectively.
  • • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with parents and healthcare teams.

Additional Details:

  • Accommodation: beach front studio apartment (utilities not included)
  • Working Hours: primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, with flexibility for occasional weekends and babysitting.
  • Travel: Willingness to accompany the family on trips and attend therapy sessions abroad as required.
  • Driver required.
  • Visa: The family can cover the visa application process for candidates with passports compatible with the Bermudian visa process (eg: UK/EU).
