A fully staffed formal household is seeking an experienced, confident and engaging Academic Tutor to support the education and development of their bright and energetic six-year-old daughter. This is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, starting in August the tutor will then primarily be required during term time. This is a wonderful opportunity for a polished and proactive educator who enjoys working in a private household environment and is passionate about nurturing curiosity, confidence and a genuine love of learning.

The role is primarily based at the family’s residence in Virginia Water during term time, with an initial 2–3 week period in France in August to help establish routine and support a smooth transition ahead of the new academic year. The household is exceptionally well organised, with rota nannies, chefs, drivers, housekeepers and a PA in place. This allows the tutor to focus entirely on the child’s academic progress, learning engagement and social development.

The Role:

Alongside supporting schoolwork and core academic development, you will help foster independence, positive routines and enthusiasm for learning.  The child is imaginative, curious and full of personality, with a love of animals, outdoor activities and creative play. The family are seeking someone calm, warm and consistent who can provide gentle behavioural guidance while maintaining clear boundaries and structure. This is a collaborative position within a large, professional household, so excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and discretion are essential. The successful candidate will be confident working alongside other staff members and comfortable within a formal yet welcoming environment.

  • Qualified teacher or experienced academic tutor with strong primary-level experience.
  • Excellent understanding of the British National Curriculum (Year 2 level).
  • Confident, engaging and emotionally intelligent approach.
  • Calm and consistent with behaviour management.
  • Professional, polished and discreet.
  • Organised, proactive and able to work collaboratively within a staffed household.

  • Primarily term-time based in Virginia Water.
  • Initial travel to France for approximately 2–3 weeks in August.
  • Occasional overseas travel during the school holidays might be required, normal schedule remains if family remain in the UK.
  • Fully staffed household environment.
  • Competitive salary dependent on experience.
